Selling Your Home? 2 Changes You Should Make Before You Put Your House On The Market

If you are planning to sell your home soon, you should consider making a few changes before you put it on the market. The better your home looks, the faster the real estate agent will sell it, and the sooner you can get into your new home. Below are two inexpensive things you can do so you can get started. Much of this you can do on your own so you can save money.

Jazz Up the Landscaping

When a potential buyer pulls into your driveway one of the first things they will notice is your landscaping. If you currently have no landscaping or your current landscaping is not much to look at, this will leave a bad first impression for the buyer.

You could do some simple things to make your landscaping look better. First, if there are shrubs, make sure they are trimmed so they are all the same shape and size. If there is room in front of your home plant some annual flowers. You could also create a small flower bed and fill it full of annual flowers. You should not plant a lot of flowers as some of your potential buyers may not like them in a yard.

Purchase a container and fill it with fragrant flowers and sit it on your front porch. You could also use hanging baskets. This will give off a nice fragrance for buyers as they walk through the door.

Contact a landscaper in your area if you need any help.

Repair the Roof

If your current roof has any kind of damage, such as broken or missing shingles, loose gutters, etc., hire a roofing contractor to come to your home and repair it for you. You could also ask the roofer if they will clean the roof for you. This means removing all debris and cleaning any algae, moss, or anything else that may be built up on the roof. This can make your roof look brand new to buyers. Do not attempt to do this work yourself as it can be dangerous.

You do not want to spend a lot of money in making changes to your home, so do not ask the roofer to install a brand-new roof. This is a big expense and is something the home buyer can do at a later date.

Talk with your real estate agent about these things, as well as other small things you can do around your home.
